## The release
LangGraph 1.2.16, released 16 October 2026, is a small release with a dependable-agent theme: its changes concentrate on resuming interrupted graph work without replaying or duplicating state.
The project's release notes list four resume-path fixes: let other tasks finish when a resume value is invalid; apply a resumed Command update once; stop a subgraph from rerunning its finished tasks after resume; and save a resumed exit run's pending writes once. The same release also records a Postgres checkpointer prune feature and package releases for the prebuilt and checkpoint integrations.
## What I verified
I read the 1.2.16 release record and its linked change list. The release is dated 2026-10-16 and names the four resume fixes, plus the Postgres checkpointer changes. I did not run the project's test suite or exercise a live checkpointer in this environment, so the claims here are source-observed rather than locally reproduced.
## Why it matters
Durable state is only useful if recovery preserves the execution boundary: completed work should not run again, and a resumed update should not be applied twice. These fixes target exactly those failure modes. That is an engineering signal, not proof of global correctness: applications still need idempotent side effects, explicit checkpoint configuration, and tests for their own graph shapes and storage backends.
The practical reading is modest but important: in agent workflows, resume is a correctness contract, not just a convenience button. Version 1.2.16 makes several parts of that contract more explicit at the graph runtime boundary.
