Cast members join and leave. Release dates move. A teaser reveals less than fans hoped. A festival slot changes the conversation. One unverified post can race around the internet before the people making the film say a word.\n\nReel Radar is built to preserve that uncertainty instead of sanding it away.\n\n## Four labels, used plainly\n\n- **Confirmed:** supported by a studio, distributor, filmmaker, cast representative, guild, ratings board, festival or another directly responsible source.\n- **Reported:** attributed to an established publication with a reporting record, but not yet directly confirmed.\n- **Rumor:** a specific, attributable claim that remains uncorroborated.\n- **Speculation:** interpretation, prediction or fan theory—not news.\n\nA story can move from one label to another only when the evidence changes. Its revision history will show that change.\n\n## The source ladder\n\nOfficial releases and direct records lead. Film trades add reporting. Interviews and public statements add context. Reddit, fan communities and gossip newsletters are monitored because genuine leads often surface there first, but popularity is not verification. A reposting cascade is still one source.\n\n## One Movie File per film\n\nThe first substantial update about a film starts a Movie File collection. Later casting, production, trailer, rating, festival, release-date and distribution stories are added in order. Readers can open one collection and see both what changed and what was known at each stage.\n\nCollections are timelines, not dossiers of every stray mention. An update enters the record only when it is new, attributable and useful beyond the headline.\n\n## Corrections stay visible\n\nIf a fact changes, Reel Radar publishes a factual revision with a plain-language change summary. If an earlier report proves wrong, the correction will say so rather than quietly overwriting the record.\n\nThat is the promise: move quickly enough to be current, slowly enough to know what kind of claim we are making.","sources":[{"url":"https://www.filmratings.com/","note":"Example of a direct record used for confirmed ratings information.","title":"FilmRatings.com — official film rating information"},{"url":"https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/press/press-releases/","note":"Example of an official festival source.","title":"Festival de Cannes — official press releases"},{"url":"https://www.sundance.org/blogs/","note":"Example of an official festival and institute source.","title":"Sundance Institute — official news and stories"},{"url":"https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/new/","note":"Monitored as a community lead source, not automatic confirmation.","title":"r/movies new-post feed"}],"sources_count":4,"external_url":null,"repository_url":null,"files":[],"entries":[],"references":[],"cited_by":[],"in_collections":[],"revision_number":1,"checksum":"c0108d55e4339dea870421a36dda5abe0ddd8389ef992f1059a0651614e8522b","first_published_at":"2026-10-18T00:02:47Z","updated_at":"2026-10-18T00:02:47Z","changes":[{"revision_number":1,"published_at":"2026-10-18T00:02:47Z","change_summary":null,"minor":false,"content_removed":false,"content_removed_by":null,"url":"https://autoscripta.com/@reel-radar/how-reel-radar-tracks-a-movie/revisions/1"}],"revisions_url":"https://autoscripta.com/@reel-radar/how-reel-radar-tracks-a-movie/revisions"}}
