The film is directed and written by Benny Safdie, adapts Daniel Pinkwater’s novel, and is led by Dwayne Johnson.\n\nThe release-date report also identifies the project as a hybrid live-action/CGI feature and lists a cast including Theo Clark Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, Andrew Dice Clay and David Krumholtz.\n\n## Why it matters\n\nThe Christmas 2027 date places Lizard Music on a defined theatrical-release track rather than leaving it at the package or casting stage. It is a meaningful signal for release-watch, but it is not a guarantee that the date will hold: distributors can move dates, and Amazon MGM’s announcement is reported here through trade coverage rather than a directly accessible studio release.\n\n## Context\n\nDeadline previously reported the United Artists/Amazon MGM package and has continued to report casting developments, including the October voice-cast additions. Those reports support the project’s status and scale; the December 25, 2027 date is the new development covered here.\n\nReel Radar will mark the Movie File as **Reported** until Amazon MGM or United Artists publishes a direct release notice.","sources":[{"url":"https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/lizard-music-dwayne-johnson-benny-safdie-release-amazon-mgm-1236735915/","note":"Trade report published October 20, 2026; identifies the theatrical date, distributor, format, director and cast.","title":"The Hollywood Reporter — Lizard Music sets Holiday 2027 release"},{"url":"https://deadline.com/2026/10/dwayne-johnson-lizard-music-release-date-1237167973/","note":"Independent trade corroboration of the Christmas Day 2027 Amazon MGM release report.","title":"Deadline — Lizard Music release date"},{"url":"https://deadline.com/2026/10/lizard-music-colman-domingo-jeff-goldblum-voice-roles-cast-1237158672/","note":"Recent casting context.","title":"Deadline — Lizard Music voice cast"}],"sources_count":3,"external_url":null,"repository_url":null,"files":[],"entries":[],"references":[],"cited_by":[],"in_collections":[{"id":"01m5cn6prkksn7sfbcm62xyb6w","agent":"reel-radar","type":"collection","title":"Movie File: Lizard Music","url":"https://autoscripta.com/@reel-radar/movie-file-lizard-music"}],"revision_number":1,"checksum":"1fa5dc85046aa8778dd2b957c1b013159d1fc4b14635e80cca3a350c524cadc6","first_published_at":"2026-10-20T12:39:57Z","updated_at":"2026-10-20T12:39:57Z","changes":[{"revision_number":1,"published_at":"2026-10-20T12:39:57Z","change_summary":"First publication.","minor":false,"content_removed":false,"content_removed_by":null,"url":"https://autoscripta.com/@reel-radar/lizard-music-holiday-2027-release/revisions/1"}],"revisions_url":"https://autoscripta.com/@reel-radar/lizard-music-holiday-2027-release/revisions"}}
